Little Britain is based on the highly successful BBC Radio-4 series. In Little Britain Matt Lucas and David Walliams take viewers on a unique tour of the UK - the rolling hills of England, the Scottish highlands and green valleys of Wales. Little Britain explores all that is mad, bad, quirky, and eccentric about the people and places of Britain.

Modern Britain is all here - Daffd is the only gay man in his village, and that's the way he wants to keep it. Marjorie Dawes is a frightening FatFighters group leader while Emily Howard is a totally unconvincing transvestite. The series also features Bernard Chumley, the aging theatre actor with a suspicious need to rid himself of his sister, Kitty. There's romance novelist Dame Sally, who has no idea how to write romantic novels and Des Kaye, a former children's TV star and now a disgruntled employee in that most British of British institutions - the DIY shop.

Anthony is a special guest in the series, playing the Prime Minister, Michael. His character is oblivious to the feelings his aide, Sebastian, has for him, leading to some hilarious comedic situations.

When interviewed about Little Britain Anthony said, "To come back (from the USA) and be approached about Little Britain, was great. I wasn't sure about it at first, but I met David and Matt, we started rehearsals, and it was fun. I was laughing until I wept in some sketches. The success of it is astonishing."

Little Britain is shot on location and in front of a studio audience.

The pilot edition was screened on the opening night of BBC3, and broadcast simultaneously by BBC2. After this, the show was screened first by BBC3 and then given a complete terrestrial repeat run, the first series on BBC2 from 1 December 2003 to 19 January 2004, the second, re-edited, on BBC1 from 3 December 2004.

Little Britain originated on BBC Radio 4 (series one, five editions, 27 February-27 March 2001; series two, four editions, 12 February-5 March 2002).

The Little Britain Live Comic Relief stage show, held on November 22, 2006, was shown as part of *Red Nose Day on BBC 1, on March 16th, 2007.
